Tasting notes
- Vineyard Region Margaret River, WA
- Vintage Conditions A warm, dry vintage was experienced in 2010 in Margaret River and these conditions resulted in rapid, uniform ripening in Chardonnay, with great retention of flavour and natural acidity. All Chardonnay blocks were carefully managed to ensure the canopy completely covered the fruit to prevent sunburn and to retain flavours in the grapes and subsequent wine.
- Grape Varietal Chardonnay
- Vinification and Maturation The vineyards from which we source fruit for our X&Y Chardonnay are located in the central and northern parts of the Margaret River winegrowing region. These vineyards consistently produce Chardonnay wines with intense stone fruit flavours and great texture. The Chardonnay fruit from each block was picked at night and gently transferred to an airbag press to extract the finest quality juice. The juice was then cold settled and racked for fermentation. Part of the ferment (30 per cent) was fermented and matured on French oak with the balance being fermented in stainless steel to impart primary fruit purity to the final blend. All batches were lees stirred to provide texture and mouth-feel in the end wine. Once blended, the wine was lightly fined before bottling for an early release.

- Colour Vibrant pale to mid straw.
- Aroma Ripe peach and nectarine aromas are complemented by honeydew melon and lemon butter notes.
