Evans & Tate

evans tate

A passion to pursue paths untrodden has seen us explore the possibilities of modern winemaking. Pairing style with innovation, we are one of Western Australia's original winemakers, but we are also one of Western Australia's future winemakers.

While others persist with the current, we are willing to do things differently. We create timeless styles that you gravitate towards year after year through trust and familiarity. And in the spirit of unpredictability and intrigue, we create fresh, new styles that have an undeniable allure. Whether you're out dining with friends, enjoying a glass at home or need something special to celebrate with - we make wines that complement your lifestyle. And because we know they taste great, you can be assured that our wines will reflect your great taste.

Our wines are made for you, not winemakers. We love to engage you with our ability to surprise and we want our wines to inspire your own story, your own moments. Because at Evans & Tate, we believe the possibilities are endless.

The winery has a growing international presence and can be found in 14 countries across the world. At home, Evans & Tate is the number one Margaret River producer by value (Nielsen MAT 31/3/2010) and was recently named a five star winery in James Halliday's 2010 Wine Companion.

Gnangara

The name Gnangara, aboriginal for underground spring, was inspired by the natural spring which lay beneath the original Evans & Tate winery.

Sourcing fruit from prime vineyard regions across Western Australia, the Evans & Tate Gnangara range has been a founding element in developing the winery's award-winning reputation for superb quality and excellent value.

Today, the Evans & Tate Gnangara range of fruit-driven, approachable wines encapsulates the essence of this famous region with Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Merlot, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon varietals.

Classic

Evans & Tate Classic White – so named for its classic Margaret River blend of Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc was first released in 1987 as a fresh and lively early-drinking style.

In the spirit of innovation, Evans & Tate pioneered the Classic White style in Margaret River, inspiring other wineries to produce their own refreshing blends. Redbrook Range

Under a rich and bright West Australian sun, rows of vines create patchworks of colour across the landscape. The ground underfoot subtly rises and falls, as 35 year old vines whisper a story that begins with a single vineyard.

A vineyard named Redbrook.

The year was 1974 when Evans & Tate founders John Evans and John Tate saw promise in a piece of land on the northern bank of the Wilyabrup River. A site wisely selected for its well-drained gravel soils, Mediterranean climate and maritime location, they planted the land to vines the following year. John Tate's beloved dog was a red-brown coloured daschund called Redbrook and this, a great companion for many winemakers, provided the inspiration for the vineyard's name.

Nestled in the heart of the Wilyabrup wine region, Redbrook is now surrounded by a collection of the region's equally iconic and historic vineyards. Home to some of the oldest vines in the Margaret River, the Redbrook vineyard remains the home of the Evans & Tate. The vineyard has a history of producing wines of excellence, wines of benchmark regional style and importantly, wines of distinctive originality. And this history has inspired the beginning of an enduring pursuit for the winery.

Blending select parcels of fruit from the region's most outstanding vineyards, the Evans & Tate Redbrook range emulates the standard set by the original Redbrook vineyard. These are wines of distinction and passion; wines that live and breathe the history of their namesake.
